RESEARCH INTERESTS
My research interests are in the synthesis, properties, and applications of metallosupramolecular materials. These organic-inorganic hybrid materials combine the advantages of polymers - low cost, ease of processing, good mechanical properties - with the unique properties of metal complexes (e.g., optical, magnetic, electronic, catalytic). Materials can be readily accessible via self-assembly polymerization of ditopic macromolecules with metal salts. Metallosupramolecular polymers display appreciable mechanical properties, similar to poly(ethylene), and can even self-heal after being intentionally damaged. Research in this area focuses on the structure-property relationship of metal complexes within polymer matrices.
