The explicit aim of AMI is to gain international recognition as a leading player in the nanotechnology field. Cooperations with top-class research groups around the world are playing an important role on this way.
The valorization of research results is one of the Institute’s key missions. In addition to presenting findings to the scientific community, AMI develops a number of other means to create value by reaching out to industry and the general public. The right mix of different collaboration models and funding schemes is helping us to reach our objectives. The biggest emphasis lies on independent fundamental research, where the researchers of the AMI are free to work on the most exciting and challenging projects and freely interact with other research groups around the world. During directed research activities with industrial partners, the acquired competences and knowledge is put into practice on application-oriented research themes. Adapted to the specific situation this can be realized in short- or longterm collaborations.
