OUTREACH
In our outreach programs we like to share our fascination for research with the next generation of students, give access to the nanoworld and its promises to the interested public and just contribute our part in the discussion on a profitable and responsible use of nanotechnology for our society.
NanotechDay 2009
In October 2009, the Adolphe Merkle Institute played an important role in the organization and founding of the first NanotechDay in Fribourg. This day was organized in collaboration with the Nanotechnology Network, the School of Business Administration and the College of Engineering and Architecture Fribourg. Representatives from industrial companies, namely Credit Swiss, Ilford and Debiopharm Group, gave presentations and highlighted different aspects, including their roles in nanotechnology. This event was open for general public and with 175 participants a great success.
SWISS NANOCONVENTION 2011
The new “Swiss NanoConvention” is the successor of the biannual forum for dialogue and discussion on the topic of nanotechnology that was originally initiated and organized by the EMPA. The new format is supported by all important players of the Swiss nano-scene, such as EMPA, PSI, CSEM, EPFL, ETHZ, SNI, IBM, Novartis and naturally the AMI. The annual forum will be organized by turns in different parts of Switzerland and the organizers have set the ambitious goal to establish the "Swiss NanoConvention" as THE Nano-event or THE Nano-window of Switzerland. The next convention will take place on May 11-12, 2011 in Baden.
